Aran Islands Day Tour By Train

Once you have checked in you will board the train and begin your day tour to the west of Ireland as the train departs Heuston Rail Station at 7:35am.

You will head through the suburbs of Dublin City as you travel in a south-westerly direction through Co.Kildare.
-
You will than pass through the famous racecourse known as the Curragh as well as Bog of Allen and peat-lands as you venture through the midlands of the country.

The small town of Tullamore is next on your journey as you go through Clara across farmlands in the north of Offaly.

You will enter the West after you cross the border between Leinster and Connacht which is marked by the River Shannon.

Now that you are in the west of Ireland you will start to notice its absolute beauty as you will start to get a glimpse of Galway Bay.

When you arrive in Galway you will be transferred to Connemara Airport by Aer Arann mini-coach for the short flight to Inis Mór.

Your tour of Inis Mór begins and ends at the island's airport.

On the tour you will go to 'Seven Churches' for 15 minutes and Dún Aonghusa for 75 minutes and then stop off at Kilronan village for lunch for about 45 minutes.

You will fly back to Galway and be brought to the Tourist Office. You should now have a bit of time in Galway City Centre where you can do shopping or some exploring before boarding the train back to Dublin at 7:20pm

- When your train leaves Heuston Rail Station it will travel in a south westerly direction heading for Kerry. Venture through the suburbs of Dublin then through the countryside of Kildare. Then travel through passed the famous racecourse, the Curragh. You will continue through Portlaoise, Thurles, Charleville and arrive then at Mallow Station where there is a change of trains before Killarney. The host will escort you the whole way so no need to worry.
- When you arrive to Killarney Station you will board the coach for the tour of the magnificent Ring of Kerry.
- During the excursion of the Ring of Kerry there are plenty of stops along the way for morning tea, lunch and a stop for photo's. You will be able to see one of Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntouhil. One of the stops include the Kerry Bog Village Museum where visitors can get insight into what life was like in rural Ireland in the 18th century.
- Depending on the weather when you arrive in Waterville you may be able to see Skellig Islands and this is where Star Wars 'The Force Awakens' was filmed there. Plenty of photo stops will be made and a final stop at the village of Sneem.
- The tour will circle the fabulous MacGillycuddy Reeks and runs through its many passes and valleys along the shores of Dingle and Kenmare Bay.
- You will not forget the picturesque villages like Glenbeigh, Waterville and Sneem. You will return through Ladies View and through the Oakwoods of Killarney's magnificent National Park.
- At the end of the tour will be brought back to where you began the tour at Killarney Rail Station.
- At 5:35pm the train departs Killarney and heads for Dublin and there will be a change of train at Mallow. You will arrive into Dublin Heuston at 9:00pm that night.

Experience many beautiful views and scenery as you travel through the gorgeous countryside of Kildare. Along this journey you will pass the famous racecourse, The Curragh and then through County Carlow and then enter County Kilkenny where you will have your first stop.
- At 9:00am you will stop at Kilkenny, located on the River Nore. You will have over 2 hours to explore this wonderful medieval city. There are plenty of castles to see in this Irish City and during the months of April to October there is a guided tour of Kilkenny by road train.
- You will depart Kilkenny by train at 11:40am and head for Waterford.
- Arriving in the Viking Town of Waterford at 12:20pm, you pass Jerpoint Abbey which is from the 12th century.
- When you arrive at Waterford Station you will then travel to the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre where you will be given a guided tour. On this tour you will witness the skills that the craftsmen have for blowing and cutting the crystal glass.
- You will have a lunch stop where you get the chance to grab a bite to eat and there is plenty of choice in Waterford as the city has plenty of local pubs and bars.
- The train departs Waterford at 4:25pm and heads West as it travels the breath-taking Suir Valley through Tipperary.
- Once you have passed through the town of Tipperary you will change trains at Limerick Junction.
- No need to worry about these changes as the tour host will be with you to escort you onto the train and to the location of your reserved seats.
- Arrive back in Heuston Station in Dublin at 8:00pm

Train will depart from Heuston Station and head in a south westerly direction through the suburbs of Dublin. You will travel through the countryside of Co. Kildare and then into the middle of the country passed the Bog of Allen. Continue on through the town of Tullamore, famous for their signature whiskey, Tullamore D.E.W. The River Shannon is then crossed which signifies the border between the two provinces of Leinster and Connacht. At this point you will be surrounded by bogs on both sides of the tracks and you will get a first look at the gorgeous Galway Bay on the way into Galway.

The tour will depart from right outside Galway Railway Station which is in the centre of Galway City and you will begin to head for Connemara. You may be able to get a look at Ireland's second largest lake (Lough Corrib) on the right hand side on the train.

As the day continues, pass through Moycullen village and then through the village of Oughterard and take in the fragrance of the peat fires which make special blue smoke. Then feast your eyes on the sheer beauty of Connemara where there are mountains and lakes all to take in.

Stop at Peacockes hotel and Tavern at the Crossroads of Connemara called Maam Cross. Here you will stop for and will have time to do some shopping or grab a coffee.

Continue the day tour by travelling between the two mountains Twelve Bens and Maaturk which are located in Maam Valley. You will pause briefly at the quaint little village of Leenane which is located at the head of Killary Harbour. Witness the stunning scenery of Kylemore Abbey where you will stop for almost two hours for lunch and exploring. While you're there why not visit the beautiful Victorian Walled Garden and a Gothic Church.

After Kylemore Abbey travel through the village of Letterfrack and see the bays and inlets of the sea/ocean. After getting back on the Wild Atlantic Way you will stop at the Sky Road where you can capture come truly spectacular photographs as there are fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean. As the tour is commencing you will stop at the town of Clifden where you can grab a pint or get some shopping done.

After the stop at Clifden, you head back through Galway and have another stop at Maam Cross if needed and arrive back in Galway by 6:30pm.

Stop off at Clifden, the colourful little town, great place for tourists to visit and then travel back to Maam cross but head southwards through the Screeb, Costello and Rossaveal.

The tour of Connemara heads towards Galway City along the shores of Galway Bay and see the blue waters of the Atlantic at the unique limestone of the Burren and the Hills of Clare. After your day tour you will return back to Galway Station.

When you arrive in Galway you will be transferred to Connemara Airport by Aer Arann mini-coach for the short flight to Inis Mór.

Your tour of Inis Mór begins and ends at the island's airport.

On the tour you will go to 'Seven Churches' for 15 minutes and Dún Aonghusa for 75 minutes and then stop off at Kilronan village for lunch for about 45 minutes.

You will fly back to Galway and be brought to the Tourist Office. You should now have a bit of time in Galway City Centre where you can do shopping or some exploring before boarding the train back to Dublin at 7:20pm
